🏛️Our founders
The Congregation of the Sisters of St. Ann of Providence was founded on 10th December 1834 in Turin, Italy, by the noble couple Marquis Carlo Tancredi and Marchioness Giulia Di Barolo.
Though born into privilege, they chose a life of humility, dedicating themselves wholeheartedly to the service of the poor, the abandoned, and the marginalized. Their mission was deeply rooted in compassion, with a special focus on the education and upliftment of children and youth.
Their vision was simple yet powerful: true service lies in empowering others through education, care, and dignity. By using their resources for the welfare of society, they laid a strong foundation for a legacy of love, learning, and social transformation.
Co-Foundress and Missionary Spirit
Blessed Enrichetta Dominici (1829–1899) played a vital role as the key co-foundress of the congregation. Becoming Superior General in 1861, she guided the institute with wisdom and dedication, expanding its reach significantly.
Under her leadership, the congregation flourished and extended its mission beyond Italy. In 1871, she sent the first Sisters as missionaries to India, marking the beginning of a global journey of service and education.
